There is a rumor circulating that Prince William has commissioned the Queens personal jeweler, Harry Collins of G. Collins and Company in Kent, England to design a “push present” for Kate Middleton’s birthing of Prince George. The rumor suggests that the commission is a brooch featuring pink diamonds.
Pink diamonds might seem like an interesting choice although pink diamonds have appeared in other jewels made for the Royals. This tradition started when Canadian geologist, Dr. J.T. Williamson found a 54 carat rough pink diamond in Tanzania and gave it to Queen Elizabeth II for a wedding gift in 1947. This diamonds was faceted and set in the center of a stylized flower pin designed by Cartier for Elizabeth’s coronation in 1952.
The 23.6ct pink diamond, known as the Williamson Pink, is considered by many as the finest pink diamond in existence. The Queen wears this brooch often.
Gifts given to mothers after the birth of a baby was first called a “push present” in a publication in 1992. When Prince William was born in 1982, Prince Charles gave Princess Diana a gold bracelet inscribed with his writing and a gold ‘W’ charm. We will have to wait to see what Prince William has commissioned.
It is always a highlight of the jewelry year to see what jewelry the stars are wearing on the Red Carpet! For me it is a sign of what is “In Fashion”. This year I guess I need to rid our cases of all of those beautiful colored gemstones, because diamonds were king on the 2013 Academy Awards last night!!!
Charlize Theron gets the Krombholz Jewelers “Stack Award” for her bracelet combo. Nothing like adding a few hundred carats of diamonds on your wrist.
One exception to the all diamond trend. I wanted to see a closer look was Nicole Kidman’s Earrings! I did not find out anything specific, but they were borrowed from Fred Leighton and appear to be Victorian morning jewelry.
Anne Hathaway’s necklace intrigued me. At first I thought it was a long necklace bunched in the back. After seeing this picture, I can tell it was designed to cross over. My guess, the cross over was originally designed for the front.
The Krombholz Jewelers “WOW award” goes to Jennifer Garner. Her darkened platinum Neil Lane Jewels are reported to be valued at 2.5 million. I am glad she had so many years of self defense training in the TV show Alias!!
Florence + the Machine is a Grammy nominate English indie rock band that will be heard often on the sound system of Krombholz Jewelers.
The group is fronted by the incredible vocalist, Florence Welch and includes the long time musician collaborator, Isabella “Machine” Summers.
Florence has been busy on the side designing jewelry. I think this a a great example of the creative spirit that flows from some individuals.
Her jewels won’t be found on our website: KrombholzJewelers.com. You can find her designs on her website: Flotique.com
Amanda Seyfried purchased a Just Like You Design ring a few years ago while she was filming in Charleston, S.C. Since then it has been hard not to notice the great style of this starlet!
This picture shows exhibiting her beauty and style with a simple, but beautiful Zac Posen dress and an Art Deco inspired lavender jade and diamond Lorraine Schwartz pendant.
Lorraine has been catching my design consistently for a while now. Her style of fine jewelry is fashionable and tasteful! She chooses to sell her designs only at Bergdorf’s and does not maintain a personal website.
I really enjoy seeing the length of the chain coordinating with the scale of the pendant and the style and simplicity of the dress. Very well done!
